Call forwarding guide

How to forward missed calls on AT&T

On AT&T, conditional forwarding lives in your phone's call settings. Here's where to find it, so only the calls you can't take go to the other number.

On an Android phone

AT&T's device support pages give this path for phones that use Google's Phone app:

  1. Open the Phone app and open the menu.
  2. Tap Settings, then Calling accounts, and choose your SIM.
  3. Tap Call forwarding.
  4. Set When busy, When unanswered and When unreachable to the number you're forwarding to. Leave Always forward off so your phone still rings first.

On a Samsung Galaxy the path is a little different: Phone, More options, Settings, Supplementary services, Call forwarding. See the Android guide.

On an iPhone

The iPhone's built-in Call Forwarding switch sends all calls to the other number, so your phone stops ringing. AT&T's support pages don't list a code for forwarding only missed calls from an iPhone, so if that's what you want, ask AT&T to set up conditional forwarding on your line. The iPhone guide covers the built-in setting.

AT&T home phone or business line

Landlines and AT&T business phone service have their own forwarding steps. Use AT&T's home phone guide or business phone guide.

Test it before you rely on it

  1. Call your business number from another phone.
  2. Don't answer. Let it ring.
  3. Check that the call reaches the number you forwarded to after a few rings.
  4. Call once more while your phone is switched off or in airplane mode, if you set up forwarding for unreachable calls too.

If the call goes to your old voicemail instead, the forwarding didn't save. Dial the code again slowly, or contact your carrier.
