How the math works

Missed calls a week, times 52, divided by 12, gives missed calls a month. Multiply by how many out of 10 would have booked, divided by 10, to get the jobs those calls might have been. Multiply by your average job for the work you may be missing. The last line divides $297 by your average job to show how many recovered jobs a month would pay for Gwen.

It's an estimate built only from your own numbers. Some callers will leave a voicemail or call back; others call the next business on the list and never come back. Your real number depends on how fast you return calls and how urgent the work is.

How to get a real count of your missed calls

  • Scroll through your phone's recent calls for the past week and count the missed ones from numbers you don't recognize.
  • Count voicemails too, and how many of those callers you reached when you called back.
  • If you use a business phone service, its call log or report usually lists unanswered calls.
