How to forward missed calls on Android
Most Android phones let you forward calls only when you're busy, don't answer or can't be reached, right from the Phone app. Here's where to find it on Google's Phone app and on Samsung Galaxy phones.
Google's Phone app (Pixel and many other Android phones)
- Open the Phone app and open the menu.
- Tap Settings, then Calling accounts, and choose your SIM.
- Tap Call forwarding.
- Set When busy, When unanswered and When unreachable to the number you're forwarding to.
Samsung Galaxy
- Open the Phone app, tap More options (the three dots), then Settings.
- Tap Supplementary services, then Call forwarding.
- Choose Forward when busy, Forward when unanswered and Forward when unreachable, enter the number and tap Enable for each.
Leave "Always forward" off. With it on, your phone stops ringing and every call goes to the other number.
Don't see the option?
Some carriers handle forwarding with dial codes instead of phone settings. On Verizon, dial *71 plus the 10-digit number (Verizon guide). On T-Mobile, use the codes in the T-Mobile guide.
Test it before you rely on it
- Call your business number from another phone.
- Don't answer. Let it ring.
- Check that the call reaches the number you forwarded to after a few rings.
- Call once more while your phone is switched off or in airplane mode, if you set up forwarding for unreachable calls too.
If the call goes to your old voicemail instead, the forwarding didn't save. Dial the code again slowly, or contact your carrier.
